Ukrainian forces have once again struck a Russian multiple launch rocket system Tornado-S near Melitopol, marking the second destruction of the equipment within a few days in the same area.
The attack was carried out using drones and is part of a series of recent operations aimed at weakening the firepower of Russian troops.
According to Ukraine’s General Staff, the actions took place between the night of April 27 and the following 24 hours, targeting not only the artillery system but also an ammunition depot, command posts, and drone control centers across different areas of the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. A repair unit was also neutralized, increasing the logistical impact on opposing forces.
Released footage indicates that the target was identified through aerial reconnaissance along a road near Melitopol. The drone monitored a convoy of vehicles, including trucks equipped with anti-aircraft weapons, before directly striking the Tornado-S launcher, which appeared to be preparing to fire or had just completed an attack. The operation is believed to have been carried out using a locally produced FP-2 drone.
The Tornado-S is part of a family of modernized rocket systems designed to provide greater accuracy and automation on the battlefield. Equipped with satellite navigation and digital fire-control systems, the weapon enables rapid operations with reduced crew exposure, making it a key component of contemporary Russian artillery.
